Chinese Folk Orchestra
It's rare that any of us ever gets to hear music we could describe as truly unique. But that was the case in the two Jacksonville performances of the Chinese Folk Orchestra of Qingdao University of Science and Technology. The performers, including both students and faculty, use traditional Chinese instruments most of us have never seen or heard before: guzhengs, erhus, shengs and pipas. The orchestra has performed over 30 concerts for international audiences, but this was many of the students' first-ever visit to the U.S. It was truly a feast for the eyes and ears.
