Zack & Lauren's St. Marys Wedding
Zack doesn't really remember the first time he met Lauren. They were probably in high school, and Lauren was just his friend's kid sister. They went their separate ways -- Zack to UF and then into the Navy; Lauren to Jacksonville and Missouri and then back home again. But the next time they met -- at her brother's wedding -- things were different. Zack was a Naval Officer and Lauren was all grown up and gorgeous. That was about a year ago, and to say that love bloomed would be an understatement. They chose tiny, historic St. Marys, Georgia, for their wedding. I don't know how I've managed to live in Jacksonville for two decades without visiting St. Marys -- especially since it's just up the road -- but I'll definitely be back. It's quiet and quaint and has a great small-town feel with moss-draped live oaks and a charming waterfront park on the St. Marys River.
Lauren and her bridesmaids got ready in the Goodbread Inn B&B, while Zack and the groomsmen held down the fort at the ceremony site, Orange Hall, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The reception was held shortly afterwards at the Howard Gilman waterfront park. After the dinner and dancing, they left under a slightly non-Navy-regulation archway of swords held aloft by friends and family.
There was a lot of fun jammed into a few short hours, and I'd be slacking if I didn't say a big thank you to my awesome second-shooter for the day, Jaime Smith of Couture Studios, who did an unbelievable job.
I loved meeting Zack and Lauren and helping to capture their wedding memories. Thanks, you two, for letting me be a part of your day.
